Archer CEO Russ Williams is stepping down. His successor has worked on campaigns such as Chick-fil-A’s “Eat Mor Chikin” and Motel 6’s “We’ll leave the light on for you.”
A kitschy “used car lot” was the theme for this year’s American Advertising Awards, which honor Memphis advertising and design professionals — including a longtime agency owner who received a lifetime achievement medal.
The agency was established in 1952, and in 1991 acquired John Malmo Advertising. Ten years later, the Archer family sold Archer Malmo to its executives, and last year they sold it to the employees through an Employee Stock Ownership Plan.
The Roto-Sphere has been repaired and reinstalled in front of Joe’s Wines & Liquor in Midtown.
In creative spaces it seems better to employ white people capable of appropriating black vernacular, style and originality in ads. But of course, the dearth of black people “has nothing to do with race.”
