The Temptations come to Memphis — in the form of a Tony Award-winning musical. The tour brings home Jalen Harris, who portrays Eddie Kendricks in the Broadway show.
“Tina — The Tina Turner Musical” has landed in the region that raised both singer Tina Turner and writer Katori Hall, the women who made the musical possible.
After a $500,000 restoration, the Orpheum’s organ is “better than it was in 1928.” The theater will offer a free concert by organists Tony Thomas and Vincent Astor on Nov. 19.
Memphis’ Orpheum Theatre will play a free showing of “Get on Up” on Wednesday, Sept. 9 to honor the life of Chadwick Boseman.
The start of the 2020-21 season has been pushed back to December at least, and the theater has turned to inventive ways to make sure the show goes on.
The 2020-21 Broadway Series at the Orpheum also includes “Hadestown”; Tina Fey’s “Mean Girls”; “Jimmy Buffett’s Escape to Margaritaville”; and “Jesus Christ Superstar” on its 50th anniversary tour.
