Desmond Mills Jr. was set to be sentenced next month.
Desmond Mills Jr., who pleaded guilty last November for his role in Tyre Nichols’ death, is asking the federal court to delay his sentencing to allow “the defense additional time to prepare.”
“‘The radio sounds better than how the camera looks,’” Desmond Mills Jr. recalled Lt. Dewayne Smith saying of the Nichols footage.
Desmond Mills Jr. testified Wednesday he was afraid of telling the truth because, “I’d be sitting in the exact seat I’m sitting in now.”

“I’m hoping that for Mr. Mills it was his conscience that allowed him to make this plea agreement and not because of his lawyers telling him it was the right thing to do,” RowVaughn Wells said.
The five are defendants in both the criminal and civil cases.
