Prosecutors with the Shelby County District Attorney’s Office said during a hearing Monday, Dec. 4, that law enforcement is still looking for the person who killed John Materna.
A hearing date next month could determine whether the teen accused of killing a local watermelon vendor will be transferred to adult court.
John Materna, 76, died on Monday, May 29, two weeks after he was shot during a May 15 robbery while selling watermelons at Homer Street and Wayne Avenue in The Heights neighborhood.
Shelby County District Attorney General Steve Mulroy said during a press conference June 6 that his office has filed a notice of intent to seek a transfer for the teen charged with killing John Materna.
