In 2013, one of Memphis’ best bassists came out with a surprising solo album, his wry humor and welcoming warmth conveyed in a pinched but homey delivery. This month, he’ll release his fifth — and perhaps best — album since then.
The music begins on Aug. 7 with a performance by Otis Redding III, son of the legendary Stax musician, followed by a performance by another Stax legend, William Bell, on Aug. 27.
This week’s lineup includes Savannah Brister, a former contestant on “The Voice”; Jeremy Stanfill, who writes and plays soulful roots rock; and The PRVLG, a brother duo who play modern soul.
Three Memphis-connected albums – from Julien Baker, Mark Edgar Stuart and Margo Price – cracked the list.
"On Stage at the Halloran Centre" will add two new series to its lineup, one featuring local songwriters, the other featuring the Memphis Symphony Orchestra.
