WYXR’s Raised By Sound Fest — a festival and fundraiser combining free shows and a ticketed show and after party — is Dec. 2 from 1 p.m. to 11 p.m. at Crosstown.
Most of the daylong festival is free, but tickets to Cat Powers’ concert and an after party featuring New York-based DJ Alix Brown will go on sale Friday.
“We talk a lot about ‘the Memphis Sound,’ which means something very different if you’re discussing rock or soul or hip-hop. Our goal was to build a lineup that showcases what the ‘Memphis Sound’ means in various contexts.”
