Mulroy honors victims, condemns gun violence at ‘Season of Remembrance’ event

The Shelby County District Attorney’s Office honored 178 victims of violence Monday, Dec. 1, 2025, at the 15th annual “Season of Remembrance” event.
Shelby County District Attorney General Steve Mulroy said despite the overwhelming grief of losing loved ones to violence, remembering them can bring about a sense of resolve and hope.
In 2022 so far, 274 people have fallen victim to homicide in Shelby County. Although that is a decrease from the 316 who were honored during last year’s event, the pain was still the same for members of the audience.
The DA’s annual Season of Remembrance memorial service for homicide victims honored more than 300 people lost to violence this year.
Season of Remembrance, the annual event to honor homicide victims in Memphis, will go on but events will be socially distanced and virtual because of the pandemic.
