  • Tennessee warns of contaminants in Mississippi River fish; Arkansas doesn’t

    A 31-mile stretch of the Mississippi River is under a “do not consume” advisory because of high levels of methylmercury, chlordane and other organic contaminants in the fish, but posted warnings only exist on the Tennessee side. Arkansas has no advisories for the same stretch of the river.

  • Solution sought for diseased deer that could contaminate water supply near Collierville

    State Rep. Ron Gant is to meet with state officials Wednesday to seek $1 million in emergency funds for Fayette County to dispose of contaminated deer carcasses infected with chronic wasting disease. Some fear the problem could affect the Wolf River watershed east of Collierville.
