Coronavirus: New cases drop below 90

The Shelby County Health Department reported fewer than 90 new coronavirus cases on Tuesday, May 4.

The agency reported 84 new cases and one new coronavirus-related death. 

Shelby County’s reported coronavirus total is now 95,944 cases, including 92,718 inactive cases, 1,606 active cases and 1,620 deaths.

The number of new tests was unavailable, making the day’s positivity rate unavailable.

The Tennessee Department of Health releases statewide coronavirus figures at 2 p.m. Monday through Friday on its website.

As of Monday, Tennessee’s reported total was 849,436 coronavirus cases, including 12,205 deaths and 805 current hospitalizations.

About 7.7 million coronavirus tests have been performed in Tennessee.
