Coronavirus: Five new deaths reported

The Shelby County Health Department reported five new coronavirus-related deaths and 171 new coronavirus cases on Thursday, May 6.

The 171 cases come from 2,662 tests, giving the day a positivity rate of 6.4%.

Shelby County’s reported coronavirus total is now 96,221 cases, including 93,011 inactive cases, 1,582 active cases and 1,628 deaths.

The Tennessee Department of Health releases statewide coronavirus figures at 2 p.m. Monday through Friday.

As of Wednesday, Tennessee’s reported coronavirus total is 850,885, including 12,228 deaths and 827,542 recoveries.
