The unit consists of 10 newly appointed sergeants who are on temporary assignments.

Gershun Freeman’s family members and their attorneys are asking the U.S. Department of Justice to investigate his Oct. 5 death while he was detained at the Shelby County Jail at 201 Poplar Ave.

The Tate County Sheriff Brad Lance told local news outlets the killings occurred at a convenience store and two homes.
