GG Jackson has set a high bar for himself. He is hoping for a better showing at summer league in Las Vegas than he had in Salt Lake City. 

Zach Edey’s status for the rest of the summer league schedule is still to be determined. He will have six days to rest if the Grizzlies choose to hold him out until their second game in Las Vegas on July 15. 

The second-round NBA Draft pick splashed in the buzzer beater, and his Memphis Grizzlies teammates didn’t wait for the review to celebrate.

The big man finished with 14 points and 15 rebounds in his summer league debut. He had the highlight of the game, even as the Grizzlies fell in overtime 97-95.

Memphis begins summer league play Monday in Salt Lake City. The Grizzlies play Utah at 8 p.m. CT. The team will be coached by Jason March.

The Memphis Grizzlies have finalized their coaching staff for the 2024-25 season, adding four new coaches to head coach Taylor Jenkins’ bench. 

Memphis drafted the majority of its projected 2024-25 roster. This draft class will likely see its first action in a Grizzlies uniform this week as the NBA Summer League tips off Monday in Salt Lake City.

Tuomas Iisalo, 41, is known for running an imaginative offensive scheme, which has been the catalyst for his quick coaching rise.

Before the Memphis Redbirds game Wednesday against the Nashville Sounds, Memphis Grizzlies 2024 first-round pick Zach Edey and one of the Grizzlies second-round picks, Jaylen Wells, signed autographs. Wells also threw out the ceremonial first pitch. The Sounds won the game, 4-3, in 11 innings.

Jeffries was a four-star, top-100 prospect out of Olive Branch High when he joined the Memphis Tigers as part of coach Penny Hardaway’s No. 1-ranked 2019 recruiting class.

“I have made the difficult decision of pulling myself out of the process to compete for a spot at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games with Canada,” Edey told the Canadian press.

It is expected both sides will pursue a new contract. NBA free agency begins at 5 p.m. Sunday.
