“It’s just amazing how long this is taking,” Memphis coach Penny Hardaway said Tuesday about waiting for the NCAA to give the Tigers a final decision on Dain Dainja’s eligibility waiver request. “But we’re being patient.”

Through 34 total seasons as a head coach, Joye Lee-McNelis posted an overall record of 568-464.

As the NCAA decides if Dainja can play another season for the Tigers, legal experts weigh in on what could happen if the big man’s pursuit to stay on the court plays out in court.

Though Scott wouldn’t disclose the exact figure when it came to how much revenue Memphis would share with its student-athletes, he’s confident that the Tigers are “gonna compete well in that space.”

Scott told reporters Friday that his “position” regarding a potential move for Memphis to the Pac-12 “hasn’t changed” from the time the university denied an invitation to the new-look league last September.

The University of Memphis athletics department continues to pad out its staff with a new addition to oversee student-athlete academics and welfare.

In a report Sunday night, ESPN’s Pete Thamel called Memphis — an American Athletic Conference member — “the most interesting chess piece for future realignment outside of the power leagues.”

“His commitment to women’s basketball is like no other,” Memphis women’s basketball coach Alex Simmons said about Athletic Director Ed Scott.
