Winners of nine of their past 10 games, the Tigers are in a solid position for the NCAA Tournament. Beating Houston would make it even tougher for the committee to ignore them. 

Memphis defeated South Florida on Thursday, setting up Sunday’s game against Houston. It’s the biggest Tigers home game in years.

The Bulls have a poor offense but surprising defense, which means Memphis shouldn’t underestimate them as Houston beckons.

Instead of shrinking as the pressure mounts, the Tigers have begun to rise to the occasion. Their goal, and the city’s, is within reach. 

There’s just two weeks left until Selection Sunday. Judging by the way the Tigers blasted Wichita State, they don’t appear to be leaving their invitation to chance.

The Owls are young and undersized, but still should prove to be a challenge for Memphis.

The Tigers still should be in the projected NCAA Tournament field, but the way they looked in the loss was concerning, considering how well they had looked during the winning streak.

Progress is a case of show, don’t tell. And with Emoni Bates’ injury and the way the Tigers have played in his absence, it’s possible we won’t see him again this season.
