Memphis City Councilman JB Smiley Jr. practices law in Memphis and passed the Arkansas and Tennessee bar exams while writing his first book, "Born With It: Unleashing Your Greatness."  He chairs the council's Public Works, Transportation and General Services Committee and serves as vice chair for the Economic Development, Technology and Tourism Committee.

'We must be a unified and united body. If we are not, we run the risks of watering down our legislative authority and allowing outside entities comprised of individuals not elected by the citizens of Memphis, essentially, to make legislative and budgetary decisions.'

Memphis City Council Patrice Robinson Michalyn Easter-Thomas JB Smiley Jr.
