U of M announces three athletes, one staff member test positive for coronavirus
University of Memphis Athletics announced Thursday, June 25, that three student-athletes and one athletic department staff member have tested positive for the COVID-19 virus.
Names and sports were not released.
“In standing with pre-determined procedures, the student-athletes and staff member have been placed in isolation, and medical staff are conducting contact-tracing activities,” the release stated.
The university also said in a statement that it continues to coordinate with local, state and federal entities regarding COVID-19 to reduce risk on campus and protect the health and safety of the community.

The Tigers men’s basketball team returned to campus Wednesday for testing and will not be allowed to begin any sort of formal on-court training until late next month.
Memphis hoops is in the midst of Phase 0 of its return to campus and training this summer. Phase 0 does not involve actual practice, but instead includes coronavirus testing, physicals, and questionnaires for contact tracing.
The football team started its Phase 0 plan on June 6 and moved to Phase 1 -- voluntary workouts -- last week.
