Latest coronavirus data stays stable

Since July 27, the number of COVID-positive patients in regional intensive care units has hovered around the 120 mark, according to data from the state’s Healthcare Resource Tracking System.
As of Sunday, Aug. 2, that number was 121, according to the HRTS.
About 88% of regional ICU and acute care beds are being used, according to the HRTS, compared to 88% of ICU beds and 89% of acute care beds the day prior.
Of the 378 patients in regional ICUs, 121 are COVID-positive and 22 are suspected of having the virus, meaning that 38% are either COVID-positive or under investigation for the virus.
In addition, 52 regional ICU beds are still available.
Of the 2,132 patients in regional acute care, 236 were COVID-positive and 144 were suspected of having the virus, meaning that 18% were either COVID-positive or under investigation for the virus.
And 288 regional acute care beds were available.
The data includes hospitals in Shelby, Lauderdale and Tipton counties in Tennessee, Crittenden County, Arkansas and DeSoto County, Mississippi.
Shelby County has 21,913 coronavirus cases, including 16,310 recoveries and 284 deaths, the Shelby County Health Department reported Monday, August 3.
The Health Department reported 258 new coronavirus cases from 2,258 tests. No new deaths were reported.
Here’s the area’s case growth each month:
- April 1 to May 1 – 414.3% increase
- May 1 to June 1 – 100.5% increase
- June 1 to July 1 – 99.2% increase
- July 1 to August 1 – 110.2% increase
Comparatively, here’s the area’s testing growth each month:
- April 1 to May 1– 434.5% increase
- May 1 to June 1 – 157% increase
- June 1 to July 1 – 70.3% increase
- July 1 to August 1 – 57.8% increase
More than 200,000 (208,495) coronavirus tests have been administered in Shelby County.
The Tennessee Department of Health releases statewide coronavirus figures at 2 p.m. daily.
As of Sunday, August 2, the agency reported 109,627 coronavirus cases, including 1,073 deaths, 4,756 hospitalizations and 68,471 recoveries.
In Tennessee, 1.6 million coronavirus tests have been administered.
