Orpheum announces rescheduling of Broadway season

Memphis’ Orpheum Theatre announced on Wednesday, Sept. 9, that its upcoming Broadway season, which would have begun in December with “Jesus Christ Superstar,” will now begin March 2021 with “Mean Girls.”
“Since our initial season announcement in March, the world has continued to change,” Brett Batterson, Orpheum president and CEO, said in a statement. “We are so thankful for the continued support of our subscribers and supporters as we navigate the uncertain road ahead. It is not a question of if we will have Broadway again; it is simply a matter of when.”
The 2020-21 Orpheum Theatre Broadway season, updated for a second time, is as follows, with the new changes in bold.
- “Mean Girls” – March 9-14, 2021
- Jimmy Buffett’s “Escape to Margaritaville” – April 13-18, 2021
- “Hadestown” – May 4-9, 2021
- “HAMILTON” – July 13-25, 2021
- The Band’s Visit – Aug. 24-29, 2021
- Disney’s “The Lion King” – Nov. 10-28, 2021
- “CATS” - Dec. 1-5, 2021
- “Jesus Christ Superstar” – Dec. 28, 2021- Jan. 2, 2022
