Number of COVID-positive patients in area ICUs drops below 70
As of 5 p.m. Thursday, the number of COVID-positive patients in Memphis-area intensive care unit beds was below 70, per state data.
The Tennessee Healthcare Resource Tracking System reported 187 COVID-positive patients in area hospital beds; 69 of those were in ICUs.
Per the HRTS, 89% of area ICU and 90% of area acute care beds were in use.
About 20% of patients in area ICU beds were either COVID-positive (69) or suspected of having the virus (8). And about 7% of patients in area acute care beds were either COVID-positive (118) or suspected of having the virus (38).
There were area ICU 48 and 246 area acute care beds were available.
The Shelby County Health Department reported 102 new coronavirus cases and five new related deaths on Friday, Sept. 11.
The 102 new cases came from 1,107 tests, giving the day a positivity rate of 9.2%.
Shelby County’s reported coronavirus total is now 28,754 cases, including 26,904 inactive cases/recoveries and 410 deaths.
The number of active cases reported is currently 1,440.
The Tennessee Department of Health releases statewide coronavirus statistics at 2 p.m. daily.
As of Thursday, Sept. 10, the agency reported 168,237 coronavirus cases, including 1,988 deaths, 848 current hospitalizations and 151,202 inactive cases/recoveries.
About 2.4 million coronavirus tests have been performed in Tennessee.
