Shelby County adds another 200 coronavirus cases

The Shelby County Health Department reported 227 new coronavirus cases on Wednesday, Oct. 21, and two new related deaths.
The 227 new cases come from 1,994 tests, giving the day a positivity rate of 11.4%.
In Shelby County, 519,186 coronavirus tests have been performed in total; 304,395 people have been tested for coronavirus. The numbers differ because some people have been tested more than once.

The Shelby County reported coronavirus total is now 35,077 cases, including 32,304 inactive cases, 2,217 active cases and 556 deaths.
There were 233 COVID-positive people in area hospital beds as of 5 p.m. Tuesday, per state data; 69 were in intensive care units.
According to the Healthcare Resource Tracking System, 90% of area ICU and 89% of local acute care beds were in use.
About 19% of area ICU patients were either COVID-positive (69) or suspected of having the coronavirus (1). About 9% of area acute care patients were either COVID-positive (164) or suspected of having the virus (25).
And 43 area ICU and 281 area acute care beds were available.
The Tennessee Department of Health reports statewide coronavirus figures at 2 p.m. daily.
As of Tuesday, the agency reported 233,569 coronavirus cases, including 2,952 deaths, 1,259 current hospitalizations and 208,182 recoveries.
About 3.4 million coronavirus tests have been performed in Tennessee.
