More than 500 cases added to Shelby County coronavirus total

The number of newly reported coronavirus cases is the highest since Aug. 1, when the Shelby County Health Department reported 664 new cases.
The agency reported 566 new coronavirus cases and two new related deaths on Monday, Nov. 9.
The 566 cases come from 5,393 tests, giving the day a positivity rate of 10.5%.

In Shelby County, 580,672 coronavirus tests have been performed; 8% of them have had a positive result. And 331,167 people have been tested for coronavirus; 12% of them have received a positive result. (The numbers differ because some people have been tested multiple times.)
Shelby County’s reported coronavirus total is now 39,990 cases, including 2,851 active cases, 36,550 inactive cases (recoveries) and 589 deaths.
Area hospital capacity information was not available on Monday. The Health Department said that information for Friday, Saturday and Sunday would be included in tomorrow’s update.
Tennessee’s Department of Health reports statewide coronavirus statistics at 2 p.m. daily.
As of Sunday, the agency reported 281,851 coronavirus cases, including 3,595 deaths, 1,490 current hospitalizations and 250,818 inactive cases (recoveries).
About 3.9 million coronavirus tests have been performed in Tennessee.
