Coronavirus: More than 300 new cases reported

The Shelby County Health Department reported more than 300 new coronavirus cases on Monday, Dec. 7.
The agency reported 311 new cases and three new related deaths.
The 311 cases come from 2,706 tests, which gives the day a positivity rate of 11.5%.
Shelby County’s reported coronavirus total is 51,234, including 47,200 inactive cases (recoveries), 3,329 active cases and 705 deaths.
Hospital capacity figures for Sunday were unavailable on Monday. The Health Department plans to include Sunday’s figures in tomorrow’s update.
As of 5 p.m. there were fewer than 500 COVID-positive patients in area hospitals, according to the Tennessee Healthcare Resource Tracking System.
The HRTS reported that 90% of area intensive care unit beds and area acute care beds were in use.
About 37% of area ICU patients were either COVID-positive (145) or suspected of having coronavirus (5). About 18% of area acute care patients were either COVID-positive (332) or suspected of having coronavirus (66).
And 43 area ICU and 231 area acute care beds were available.

As of Sunday, Tennessee’s reported coronavirus total was 400,594 cases, including 4,943 deaths, 2,504 current hospitalizations and 360,152 inactive cases (recoveries).
About 4.7 million coronavirus tests have been performed in Tennessee.
