Strickland says Downtown parking profits can’t be used for council grants
“Ultimately, although a grant program is not feasible, I will partner with you to fund the kinds of projects you are requesting to be included in the budget to be presented and approved by you,” Memphis Mayor Jim Strickland, seen here in 2020, wrote to the City Council. “As always, we will strive to allocate resources equally among City Council districts.” (Jim Weber/Daily Memphian file)
But the mayor says he is willing to work with the City Council and says the conflicting wording in two resolutions the council approved last month could “work together” to get more funding to public transportation, mobility and parking projects.
