The Shelby County Health Department reported 180 new cases and one additional virus-related death Sunday, Feb. 14.

The new cases come from 2,986 tests, yielding a 6% positivity rate.

There are 2,663 active cases in Shelby County, a decline from Saturday’s active case count of 2,765. 

A total of 95,846 vaccines have been administered, with 70,248 of those being first doses and 25,598 people having been fully vaccinated. 

Shelby County is currently vaccinating those in phase 1a1, 1a2 and people 70 years and older, though all active appointments have been filled. 

Since March, the Health Department has reported 86,250 cases and 1,440 deaths. There have been 82,147 classified as recovered. 

A total of 997,059 tests have been performed in Shelby County, yielding a positivity rate of 9.1%.

There were 256 COVID-19 patients in Memphis-area hospitals as of 5 p.m. Thursday, the latest data available, according to Tennessee’s Healthcare Resource Tracking System. The Health Department will provide weekend hospital data in its Monday update.

Of the 256 people hospitalized, 64 are in intensive care unit beds, and 192 are in acute care beds.

Hospital capacity for ICU beds is at 94% use, and acute care beds are at 88% occupancy. The number of area ICU beds available is 26 with 286 acute care beds open.

Bed capacity is calculated by subtracting beds occupied by patients, unstaffed beds and beds that are otherwise unavailable.
