The Shelby County Health Department reported 130 new coronavirus cases and five additional virus-related deaths Saturday, March 13.

The 130 additional COVID-19 cases resulted from 3,342 tests, yielding a 3.9% positivity rate.

Active cases in Shelby County stand at 1,020, a decline from the 1,043 reported Friday.

At least 143,390 people in Shelby County have received one COVID-19 vaccine dose; 64,442 people have received both coronavirus vaccine doses, meaning they are fully vaccinated. A total of 207,832 doses have been administered in Shelby County.

At the present time, Shelby County is vaccinating phase 1a1, 1a2, 1b, 1c and those aged 65 and up on an appointment-only basis. They can be scheduled online or by calling 901-222-7468 (SHOT).

Overall, the Health Department has reported 89,401 total coronavirus cases and 1,538 deaths, classifying 86,843 cases as inactive/recovered.

A total of 1,054,179 COVID-19 tests have been performed in Shelby County, yielding a 10% positivity rate.

There were 146 COVID-19 patients in Memphis-area hospitals as of 5 p.m. Wednesday, the latest data available, according to Tennessee’s Healthcare Resource Tracking System. The Health Department will provide weekend hospital data in its Monday update.

Hospital capacity for ICU beds is at 92% use, and acute care beds are at 88% occupancy. The number of area ICU beds available is 30 with 277 acute care beds open.

Bed capacity is calculated by subtracting beds occupied by patients, unstaffed beds and beds that are otherwise unavailable.

Of the 146 people hospitalized, 48 are in intensive care unit beds, with 98 in acute care beds.

Those who are COVID-positive or suspected of having the virus represent 14% of ICU patients and 6% of acute care patients.
