Coronavirus: Shelby County averaging 26 new cases per day
According to the Shelby County Health Department, the county has averaged 26 new coronavirus cases per day from June 25 to July 1.
For the past seven days, Shelby County has averaged 1,021 vaccinations per day.
The agency reported that 389,117 people in the county have been vaccinated against COVID-19; local officials’ goal is for 700,000 to be vaccinated. That means Shelby County has achieved 55.6% of that goal.
On Friday, July 2, the Shelby County Health Department reported 40 new cases and 0 new coronavirus-related deaths. Shelby County’s reported coronavirus total is now 99,915 cases, including 453 active cases, 97,773 inactive cases and 1,689 deaths.

From July 25 to July 1 the Health Department reported 143 coronavirus cases and four coronavirus-related deaths.
