Coronavirus: Shelby County averaging 595 new cases per day
Shelby County currently is averaging 595 new COVID-19 cases per day.
According to the Shelby County Health Department, the county is also averaging 1,709 vaccinations per day.
In the county, 431,699 people have been vaccinated against the novel coronavirus; it’s 61.7% of the way to the goal of vaccinating 700,000 people.
The Health Department reported 453 new COVID-19 cases and three new coronavirus-related deaths on Wednesday, Aug. 11.
As of 5 p.m. Aug. 4 there were 423 COVID-positive patients in area hospital beds; 305 in acute care and 118 in intensive care unit.
At that time 95% of area acute care and 92% area ICU beds were in use. And 117 acute care and 31 ICU beds were available.
