Shelby County now averaging almost 700 new COVID cases per day

Shelby County is currently averaging 687 new COVID-19 cases per day for the past seven days.

But today, Thursday, Aug. 19, the Shelby County Health Department reported 915 new coronavirus cases and no new coronavirus-related deaths.

There are 7,701 reported active cases in Shelby County.


New mask mandate goes into effect 7 a.m. Friday


The county is also averaging 1,801 new COVID-19 vaccinations per day.

Shelby County is 63.7% of the way to local leaders’ goal to having 700,000 people vaccinated against COVID-19; 445,744 people are vaccinated in Shelby County.
