NBA scouts will get an early look at the University of Memphis Tigers next month.
Coach Penny Hardaway and the Tigers will host a pro day for NBA scouts on Oct. 7, according to a report Thursday morning by ESPN draft analyst Jonathan Givony.
Hardaway hosted an early pro day for scouts in 2019 after he signed James Wiseman and Precious Achiuwa. Both went in the first round of the 2020 NBA draft.
The 2021 version of the Tigers is loaded with even more potential draft picks.
Five-star signee Emoni Bates is projected to go No. 1 overall in the 2023 NBA draft (he is age-restricted from the 2022 draft). His friend and teammate, five-star center Jalen Duren, is a projected lottery pick for the 2022 draft. Miami transfer Earl Timberlake Jr. is another who has earned first-round buzz.
It’s not just those three that scouts will be intrigued with. DeAndre Williams, Landers Nolley II, Lester Quinones and Josh Minott are all prospects who could enhance their draft stock.
Per Givony, the pro day will include skill work and scrimmaging. Measurements and athletic testing will take place the day before.
Memphis also is reportedly hosting an open practice on Oct. 8.
