Coronavirus: Shelby County averaging 245 new cases per day
Shelby County has averaged 245 new COVID cases per day for the past week.
The Shelby County Health Department reported 256 new coronavirus cases and 19 new coronavirus-related deaths on Wednesday, Oct. 6.
There are a reported 2,875 active cases in Shelby County, with 863 pediatric cases (30%).
Shelby County’s reported coronavirus total is now 142,973 total cases, including 2,133 deaths.
For the past seven days, Shelby County has averaged 995 new COVID-19 vaccinations per day.
Shelby County is 70.1% to the way to the goal of 700,000 residents being vaccinated against the novel coronavirus; 490,681 people have been vaccinated.

As of Wednesday, Sept. 29, there were 370 COVID-positive patients in area hospital beds. At that time 94% of acute care and 96% intensive care unit beds were in use.
And, 16 ICU and 134 acute care beds were available.
