Elvis Week 2022 combines the new and the, er, not so new. 

Scheduled events for the 45th commemoration of Elvis Presley’s death include Conversations on Elvis, with special guests such as singer and actor Pat Boone and actress Barbara Eden, as well as a new program this year featuring young artists influenced by Presley. 

Elvis the Next Generation will have its inaugural Elvis Week performance Tuesday, Aug. 9, kicking off the week with musicians such as Jesse Kramer, known from “America’s Got Talent,” and Peedy Chavis from “The Voice.”

Boone and Eden will share stories and memories of Presley during a panel discussion Monday, Aug. 15, at the Graceland Soundstage. Eden, well-known for her lead role in the sitcom “I Dream of Jeannie,” co-starred with Presley in the 1960 western, “Flaming Star.” 

“He was just a wonderful man. One of the best actors I’ve ever worked with. He worked hard, and I respected him for that,” Eden said.

Other featured events during the nine-day commemoration include private solo tours of Graceland with Priscilla Presley and Jerry Schilling, stable tours, and the latest Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist Contest. The candlelight vigil will begin at 8:30 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 15. 

Event organizers expect more national and international guests this year, with pre-pandemic attendance numbers returning.

“It’s the first big anniversary we’re celebrating post-COVID, and our international guests who haven’t been here in two years are returning,” said Angie Marchese, vice president of archives and exhibits at Graceland. “It feels like a homecoming.”

In addition to the live events, Graceland is also offering Virtual Elvis Week passes, in which shows can be watched live and then re-watched for seven days after the presentation.
