With continuing work on Liberty Park, the City of Memphis has announced on- and off-site parking details for the Southern Heritage Classic Saturday, Sept. 10 at Simmons Bank Liberty Stadium.

Jackson State University and Tennessee State University will meet in the 33rd annual game.

Tickets for Southern Heritage Classic go on sale Friday

The city and venue are offering various parking options:

  • Fans can prebook spots at the stadium’s seven parking lots, tailgating in designated areas beginning Sept. 9 at 10 a.m.
  • They can also choose from two stadium-operated and four independent off-site lots, although most won’t allow tailgating.

Pricing for stadium-run off-site parking ranges from $200 for a three-day package to $80 for a single day.

The city also announced traffic control plans for the Classic, which in past years has brought millions of dollars and thousands of football fans to Memphis.

Rideshare companies can drop off ticket holders at designated locations, and the city has designated “access points” for drivers entering each stadium lot. As in past years, a $10-a-person shuttle will run from the University of Memphis’s Central Avenue parking lot to and from the stadium.

Classic dilemma: How will Southern Heritage replace JSU?

This year’s edition may mark the last time JSU plays in the historic game. The school announced it plans to back out of a commitment to play until 2024, drawing a lawsuit for breach of contract from operator Summitt Management Corp.

Below are the details of available parking for the game:

  • Stadium lots
  • Off-site, stadium lots
    • Southern at Hollywood Lot at 499 S. Hollywood St. — $20 per vehicle on Friday, Sept. 9 (opens at 10 a.m.) and $30 per vehicle on Saturday Sept. 10 (opens at 8 a.m.). Tailgating is NOT permitted.
    • Tobey Park 2599 Avery Lane, $20 per vehicle, and tailgating is permitted.
  • Off-site, independent lots
    • Christian Brothers University, Central Avenue entrance.
    • Maxine Smith Steam Academy/Middle College, 750 E. Parkway.
    • Shelby County School Board, 160 S. Hollywood St.
    • Binswanger Glass, 340 S. Hollywood St.
