A Houston-based group is bringing another Black Restaurant Week to Memphis.
The Bluff City was recently selected for an event already being held in a number of cities, including Atlanta, Los Angeles, New York, Toronto and Washington, D.C. The event celebrates the flavors of African, African American and Caribbean cuisine.
Black Restaurant Week was founded in 2016 by entrepreneurs Warren Luckett, Falayn Ferrell and Derek Robinson; the group partners with local restaurants to host a selection of culinary experiences, pop-up dinners and expo-style events.
In Memphis, the event will start Friday, Sept. 23, and runs through Sunday, Oct. 2.
Participating restaurants include Uncle Lou’s Fried Chicken, Tailors’ Union, Straight Drop Seafood Memphis and Curry N Jerk.
Tennessee is among several other states to be part of the group’s inaugural campaign in the Southeast region, which also includes Arkansas and Kentucky.
