“As the officer approached the vehicle, the suspect drove at the officer, forcing the officer onto the hood of the suspect vehicle. As the suspect was fleeing the scene, the officer fell off of the vehicle and the suspect drove over the officer,” the Collierville Police Department said in a statement.

The officer did discharge his firearm at the suspect during the incident and was transported in critical condition to Regional One.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation issued a Blue Alert, identifying the suspect as Keith Houston and the vehicle as a 2017 white Chevy Corvette.

The suspect was located a few hours later and taken into custody. At this time, the vehicle has not been found.

The officer’s condition remains critical.
