Ezekiel Kelly has been indicted on charges related to a carjacking in Southaven, Mississippi, at the end of a Sept. 7 shooting spree that occurred mostly in Memphis.

The Southaven Police Department presented Kelly to the DeSoto Grand Jury for indictment on Wednesday, Nov. 9.

A true bill was returned for receiving stolen property, armed carjacking and felon in possession of a firearm, according to a tweet posted by Southaven police on Tuesday, Nov. 15.

“As always, the Southaven Police Department will take every measure to protect our citizens, and ensure those that wish to do harm are held accountable,” the post reads.

The carjacking in Southaven was the last incident in a string of crimes that began at 12:56 a.m. in Memphis and ended back in the city at 8:58 p.m., resulting in three people dead and three others injured.

At 8:56 p.m. that evening, Kelly briefly made his way into Southaven and allegedly carjacked a victim at gunpoint for their gray Dodge Challenger. The victim was uninjured.

Just two minutes after the carjacking, a Memphis police officer spotted the vehicle traveling northbound on Interstate 55 from State Line Road where a high-speed pursuit began. It ended at Hodge Road and Ivan Road in Whitehaven.

Kelly, who had two firearms on him, was taken into custody.

In the Shelby County Criminal Court system, Kelly has already been indicted on 26 charges, including two counts of first-degree murder related to the slayings of Richard Clark and Allison Parker.

Clark was killed at 4:35 p.m. at a gas station at 946 South Parkway E., and Parker was killed hours later at 7:23 p.m. after Kelly allegedly carjacked and shot her at Poplar Avenue near Evergreen Street.

The other 24 additional counts against Kelly include five counts of reckless endangerment, four counts of criminal attempt first-degree murder and commission of an act of terrorism.

During a preliminary hearing Tuesday, Oct. 18., General Sessions Criminal Court Division 11 Judge Karen Massey ruled that there was enough evidence to send Kelly’s other first-degree murder charge related to his acquaintance, Dewayne Tunstall, to a grand jury.

That ruling has not yet been returned by the grand jury.

Tunstall was the first victim in the series of shootings, occurring at his friend’s home on the 3100 block of Lyndale Street.
