Tipton County Schools that were destroyed by a tornado on March 31 are getting aid from Ford Motor Co.
Ford, along with BlueOval City’s design-builder Walbridge, donated $500,000 for temporary classrooms for Crestview Elementary and Crestview Middle School in Covington.
“After the recent tornado devastated Covington, Ford, Ford Fund and our construction partners jumped to action to ensure the bright minds of Crestview Elementary and Middle School could finish their school year,” said Marianne Dunavant, BlueOval City government affairs manager and a Covington resident.
Construction is expected to take two to three weeks. The gift from Ford will be at no cost to the district.
Sunbelt Rentals, United Rentals, Phillips & Jordan, Ideal Contracting and ArchKey are also contributing to the assistance efforts.
“We are here to help our community in this time of need and lend a hand as a good neighbor should,” Dunavant said.
Ford’s future $5.6 billion BlueOval City at the former Megasite of West Tennessee will create 6,000 jobs as the automotive giant prepares to produce its next generation of electric pickup trucks.
