Frank Colvett: “The moment I saw registered voters and not likely voters, I kept going. Polling is a snapshot in time. … It used to be if you had a poll, that really meant something. Now, everybody has polls to say everything. My thing is … we’ve got to go out and meet people. Memphians get to see for themselves who they want to be mayor.”

J.W. Gibson: “15%? (On the percentages Van Turner and Floyd Bonner posted at the top of the poll) This is still a wide-open election. And, unfortunately, this is an election that has a lot of frustration coming from the community as a whole. What you are going to hear me talk about is to say to Memphians, ‘Don’t let the frustrations take over. Allow that frustration to really motivate you to do something positive about how we come together in a collaborative effort.’”

Michelle McKissack: “It’s a bogus poll. It’s a push poll. … When you have it where initially 10% of the voters say they would elect Jesus, I love Jesus. But that illegitimates the poll a little bit because it’s just not based on who is actually going to be a potential candidate in this race. I believe it’s anyone’s race at this point.”

Paul Young: “It’s a point-in-time survey. There will be a lot of polls. What I try to do is make sure I go by what I am hearing in the community and from the people. And what I am hearing is that my message is resonating, that I represent this next generation of leadership that this city is looking for.”
