‘It’s frustrating; we get it:’ MLGW crews will work through weekend
Memphis Light, Gas and Water crews will work through the weekend as 4,200 customers remain without power following an evening storm June 25 that hit the city with winds up to 75 miles per hour.
A press release issued by MLGW Saturday, July 1, said the organization has found several underground faults that must be repaired before power can be fully restored.
“Underground faults are tricky to locate and take more time to fix,” the release said. “Because of this restoration times are hard to estimate.”

MLGW President and CEO Doug McGowen acknowledged the frustration of those who remain without power but assured customers the organization is addressing the problem.
“It’s frustrating; we get it,” McGowen said. “But know that we have not forgotten you and will keep working until you are back on.”
As of 10:30 a.m. Saturday 118,000 MLGW customers had power restored as temperatures rose into the lower 90s.
The release noted while customers may not see workers in their neighborhood crews are working on areas of the system that bring power back.
The release also said temporary interruptions or outages may occur as the crews work to fully restore power.
