An arrest warrant has been issued for Davonte Pack, a friend of Memphis Grizzlies superstar Ja Morant.

The July 10, 2023, warrant against Pack is for a charge of assault-bodily harm stemming from a summer 2022 basketball game at Morant’s house.

Judge to rule Wednesday on arguments related to civil lawsuit against Ja Morant

Morant does not appear to have been issued a warrant at this time.

The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office deferred to the Shelby County District Attorney’s Office for comment Tuesday.

The DA’s office confirmed a warrant had been issued for the arrest of Pack “who has been charged with simple assault in relation to the July 2022 altercation involving Mr. Pack, Memphis Grizzlies basketball player Ja Morant, and a juvenile basketball player at Mr. Morant’s residence in Eads.”

“The SCSO consulted with the SCDAG before obtaining the warrant,” read a statement from the DA’s office. “The SCDAG Office will proceed to prosecute this case as we would any Simple Assault. As this is an active case, there is no further information we can provide at this time.”

Attorneys representing Pack and Morant did not immediately respond to a request for comment. Morant’s agency, Tandem Sports and Entertainment, was not immediately available for comment.

Pack, along with Morant, has been accused of assaulting now 18-year old Joshua Holloway during a pickup game of basketball last summer.

Holloway is suing Morant in civil court over the alleged assault.

The news of the warrant comes just hours after Shelby County Circuit Court Judge Carol Chumney heard arguments from lawyers for Morant and Holloway over a motion to dismiss the lawsuit.
