New court filing shows payments Michael Oher, Tuohys received for ‘The Blind Side’

Sean and Leigh Anne Tuohy have filed an accounting of the funds that were received while they were conservators of retired NFL star Michael Oher, whose life story rose to prominence with the 2009 film, “The Blind Side.”

Oher has been battling the Tuohys in court over the conservatorship, arguing that the couple tricked him into entering into it when he was 18 under the guise that it was akin to an adoption.

He has asked for an accounting of the money they allegedly received while acting as his conservators and that he be paid any money that was withheld from him over that time.

The conservatorship was officially terminated on Sept. 29, after nearly 20 years.

“The Tuohys have never received any money as conservators on behalf of Michael Oher and further never had control over any funds or any dealings on behalf of Mr. Oher during the entire time of the conservatorship,” a statement from the Tuohys’ lawyers filed with the accounting reads.

“In fact, the Tuohys spent tens of thousands of dollars of their own money to support Mr. Oher during his high school and college years.”

Gerard Stranch, who is representing Oher, declined to comment.

What the accounting says

The accounting shows that between 2007 and April of this year, Sean Tuohy was paid $490,127.10 by The Creative Artists Agency, Left Tackle Pictures LLC and Twentieth Century Fox.

The accounting says that after a 10% commission was paid, a third of the film’s proceeds were paid to Oher.

Randy Fishman, who represents the Tuohys, confirmed that the commission was paid to the Creative Artists Agency.

Checks from 2021 and 2022 for the movie “have not cleared the Tuohy’s bank account,” the accounting says.

The accounting shows that the Tuohys paid Oher $138,311.01 during the same time period.

Fishman said that he was paid directly and that some of the money was also deposited into a savings account.

He said that the Tuohys’ two children were paid directly.

Fishman and other attorneys for the Tuohys have previously said that Oher refused to accept the payments he was given so they were instead placed into a trust for his son.

The accounting only shows proof of three of the deposits from 2019, 2020 and 2023.

The figure is slightly higher than estimates that were given previously by the Tuohys’ lawyers, which was that each of the family members received around $100,000 for the movie.

“We didn’t have the numbers then. We have the numbers and it is what it is,” Fishman said.

Fishman said that each family member received the same amount of money, including Oher.
