Injuries continue to take a toll on the Memphis Grizzlies.
Marcus Smart, the Grizzlies’ top perimeter defender, twisted his ankle contesting a shot by Los Angeles Lakers guard Austin Reaves during the first quarter on Tuesday night in Los Angeles.
Smart remained down for a pair of possessions and needed help from team trainers to reach the locker room. The Grizzlies are also without Steven Adams (knee surgery), Brandon Clarke (Achilles tear recovery) and Ja Morant (league suspension).
The Grizzlies have not announced the severity of Smart’s ankle sprain. He was ruled out for the game and appeared on the bench in the second half wearing a walking boot.
Smart is averaging 13.4 points and 5.3 rebounds per game this season.
