Melrose High teen named Memphis ‘Youth of the Year’
Sixteen teenagers — one from each of the Memphis-area Boys and Girls Clubs serving high school students — submitted transcripts, resumes and essays, which were judged by the nonprofit’s leadership in the months leading up to Thursday’s competition.

Christopher specializes in sports, education, film, music, arts and politics, and was raised on furikake, black-eyed peas and cornbread.
