MPD operation targets gang activity near Downtown
A law enforcement operation targeting gang activity at an intersection south of Downtown Memphis resulted in multiple felony arrests.
The Memphis Police Department and local, state and federal partner agencies announced Tuesday, June 11, that they made 12 arrests in Operation Code Zero on Thursday, June 6.
In the days since, most of the suspects have since posted bond on their charges and been released from jail.
The “All Off Boyd” operation was named for the arrests made of the All Off the Blade gang members who often congregate at Boyd Street and Tate Avenue.
MPD Interim Chief C.J. Davis called the area, located near two churches, a “hub” for gathering, planning and engaging in gang activity.
“The location is a neighborhood where community members have suffered for many years, been held hostage in their homes for fear of gun violence, and some have been victims themselves of various crimes throughout the city of Memphis,” Davis said.
