County Commission Scorecard: The making of the county budget

It took a 12-hour meeting that stretched into the next day’s predawn hours.

But Shelby County commissioners ended their budget season June 17 with a series of votes that reflected compromises days in the making.

The votes also revealed lingering uncertainties about a set of three massive capital projects the county is attempting to build over the next decade as the county’s debt load on other projects is expected to lighten.
