The prelude to the most popular election cycle in Shelby County politics and America’s only nationwide election is more modest in its impact.
But the August ballot is no less important than the November presidential general election, at a time when politics on both sides of the partisan gap call to remember the consequences of local elections.
Republican and Democratic leaders have each portrayed local elections as the path to federal and national dominance.
