Mud Island amphitheater’s foundation unstable

The foundation of the Mud Island amphitheater is unstable, according to the Memphis River Parks Partnership president and CEO.
But the larger question is whether a restored, 4,000-seat amphitheater with a unique view of the city’s skyline and harbor could draw the shows, crowds and box office of the venue’s 1980s and 1990s prime.
“There is the question of, ‘Can it be repaired?’ The larger question is whether this is the music venue we need for music today,” Carol Coletta told The Daily Memphian.
The amphitheater and other parts of Mud Island have been drawing renewed interest even before Tom Lee Park’s formal reopening over Labor Day weekend.
