Sam Kendricks of Oxford, Mississippi, added a silver to his 2016 bronze medal from Rio by placing second in the Paris Olympics pole vault competition Monday.

The two-time world champion (2017, 2019) jumped a season-best of 5.95 meters (19-feet-6.25 inches) and placed second to Armand Duplantis.

Kendricks, 31, won the 2023 Ed Murphey Classic pole vault competition on Beale Street and tied for fourth at last month’s 2024 Ed Murphey Classic.
