Dwight Drinkard made FESJC, St. Jude marathon high-stakes events

He directed the FedEx St. Jude Classic golf tournament for 13 years, starting in 1986 overseeing its move from Colonial Country Club to TPC Southwind. In 2000, St. Jude made him its first director of sports marketing, hoping to reinvigorate the flagging marathon. He died Aug. 5 at age 76.
