Was last season a gap year for the Memphis Grizzlies or a lasting regression?

The franchise and most outside observers are betting on the former, and so am I. But the prospects for, and necessity of, a bounce-back makes this season a high-stakes intrigue from the jump.

And if the presence of major stars (LeBron James, Stephen Curry) on likely middling teams along with a deeper, flatter group of potential contenders yields fewer “must-see” games, it’s also created a lot more “really worth seeing” games.

But if just about everything on the Grizzlies’ 2024-2025 home schedule offers some degree of intrigue, at least for the moment, the intrigue isn’t equal.

This annual exercise sifts through the home schedule one game at a time, with an eye toward potential entertainment value, factoring player matchups, the playoff race, nights of the week, the flow of the schedule and more.

It’s a column that always helps me get my head around the Grizzlies’ home schedule and hopefully has a similar utility for some readers.

One conceit I’ve always had in mind for it is the season-ticket draft: If you split season tickets with friends and have to divvy up the games, which ones would you most want? Or, if you’re looking to buy single-game tickets and or multi-game packages, what games should you target?

Or maybe you just want to start getting excited for the season to come. However you choose to use it, here’s the consumer’s guide to the 2024-2025 Grizzlies home schedule, all games rated on a four-star scale. (Game times 7 p.m. unless otherwise noted.)
