Memphis athletic director Ed Scott has two facility projects that need fundraising.
A $220 million dollar renovation to Simmons Bank Liberty Stadium is in Phase 2 of a three-step process. And the Tigers still need to raise the back half of the $50 million needed in conjunction with the $50 million match donation awarded by FedEx Corp. founder Fred Smith and his family.
The athletic department is also raising money for the Liza Wellford Fletcher Stadium project that was recently announced. Although Scott has a lot of fundraising duties on his plate, he isn’t walking around throwing numbers at potential donors. As the new face around town, he said he understands there is a feeling-out process.
